This policy covers the Android app Speedometer: HUD, Odometer (package com.speedopro.app), previously published as GPS Speedometer. It is referred to below simply as “the app”.
Location (GPS speed). The app reads your device's GPS location to calculate and display your current speed, altitude, and distance travelled.
Trip history (stored on your device). If you tap "Start" to record a trip, the app saves that trip's summary — duration, distance, minimum/maximum/average speed, minimum/maximum altitude, the weather at the time, a human-readable place name for where the trip started and ended (for example "Main St, Springfield"), and the route you travelled as a simplified list of coordinates so the trip can be drawn on a map. This is stored only in the app's private storage on your device, is never uploaded, and is deleted when you clear trip history or uninstall the app.
Home screen widgets. If you add one of the app's home screen widgets, it shows the current trip's speed, distance and time, or your last trip's summary and your best acceleration time. That information is read from what is already stored on your device and is handed only to your device's launcher so it can draw the widget. Nothing extra is collected and nothing leaves your device.
Background location while recording a trip. While a trip is recording, the app keeps reading your location even if you switch away from it, so the trip isn't lost. Android requires a permanent notification to be shown for the entire time this is happening, and recording stops as soon as you press Stop.
Third-party lookups. To show weather, posted speed limits, and the map behind a recorded route, the app sends your approximate coordinates to these services. None of them receives any account, device, or advertising identifier — only a latitude/longitude, or the map tile numbers derived from it:
Place names for trip history are produced by Android's built-in geocoding service. The app passes only the coordinates to that operating-system API and never to any service of our own; depending on your device and Android version, Android may resolve the name on the device or using its own provider.
You can revoke location permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Speedometer → Permissions; the speedometer simply won't be able to show a live reading without it.
The free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising network. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID) and use them for ad personalization, subject to your consent choices. Where required by law (EEA, UK, California), the app shows a consent form (via Google's User Messaging Platform) before any personalized ads are requested, and you can change your choice at any time via that form.

Some optional extras — certain speedometer dials, HUD styles and backdrops, and the faster acceleration finish lines — can also be unlocked for a limited time by choosing to watch a rewarded ad. Those are served by the same AdMob network described above, and are only ever shown when you tap to ask for one.
Purchasing Premium removes all ads permanently.
The one-time Premium unlock is billed and processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment card details — Google handles the transaction and gives us only a purchase confirmation token, used solely to unlock premium features on your device/account.
The app does not require an account and does not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, or files. We ourselves operate no servers and receive no data about you.
Note that if you consent to personalised ads, Google AdMob may use your advertising ID for cross-app ad personalisation, as described under "Advertising" above — you can withdraw that consent at any time via the consent form, or reset/delete your advertising ID in Android Settings.
If you use the in-app "Send feedback" option, your email app opens with a pre-filled message that includes your app version, Android version, and device model, so we can reproduce the issue. Nothing is sent unless you press send in your own email app.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
