Device Info & Tools reads information about your phone and shows it to you. That information stays on your phone. There is no account, no server of ours, and nothing about your device is uploaded to us — because there is nowhere for it to be uploaded to.
This policy is specific rather than general: below you will find the exact permissions the app requests, what each one is for, and every internet address the app is capable of contacting.
Everything the app reads about your hardware is processed locally and never transmitted: processor, memory, storage, battery, temperatures, display, cameras, sensors, network configuration, installed applications, and the results of every hardware test.
Hardware test results are saved on your phone so you can see what has already been checked: the verdict, a short explanation, and the measurements behind it. They stay there until you run the test again or uninstall the app.
Reports you export as text or PDF are written to your device's own storage. They are shared only if you choose to share them, with whichever app you choose.
The full checkup can produce a PDF inspection certificate, intended for showing to someone buying or selling a phone. It contains the phone's model and Android version, the date, and each check with its verdict. It deliberately leaves out the IMEI, serial number and anything else identifying the individual handset or its owner. It is created only when you ask for it, and shared only if you choose to share it.
Android requires an app to declare each permission it uses. Here is every permission this app declares and the single feature it serves.
| Permission | Used for | Data leaves device |
|---|---|---|
| INTERNET ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Speed test, public IP lookup, connectivity checks, and advertising | Yes — see below |
| ACCESS_WIFI_STATE CHANGE_WIFI_STATE |
Reading the current Wi‑Fi connection and scanning for nearby networks in the Wi‑Fi analyser | No |
| ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION |
Three features need it. Android will not return Wi‑Fi scan results to any app without location permission. It also hides the name and hardware address of the Wi‑Fi network you are connected to until location is allowed, so the Network screen and the Wi‑Fi tools that show them ask for it. And the GPS hardware test obtains a position fix to measure how long the fix takes and how accurate it is. Your coordinates are never shown, saved, or transmitted — the test reports only satellite counts, signal strength, time to fix, and accuracy in metres. | No |
| NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES | Scanning for nearby Wi‑Fi networks on Android 13 and newer. It is declared with Android's neverForLocation flag, which tells the system the app does not use scan results to work out where you are. | No |
| BLUETOOTH_CONNECT BLUETOOTH_SCAN BLUETOOTH BLUETOOTH_ADMIN |
Bluetooth adapter name and status, paired device list, and the Bluetooth hardware test. The last two are the older permissions, used only on Android 11 and earlier. | No |
| READ_MEDIA_IMAGES READ_MEDIA_VIDEO READ_MEDIA_AUDIO READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE |
Breaking down storage use by media type and listing your largest files, by name and size only. File contents are never opened or read. The last one applies to Android 12 and earlier. | No |
| ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION | Reading the step counter sensor value in the sensors list | No |
| RECORD_AUDIO | The microphone test, which shows a live input level meter, and the speaker‑to‑microphone test, which plays tones and analyses what the microphone hears. Audio is examined in memory as it arrives; none of it is recorded, saved, or transmitted. | No |
| CAMERA | The rear and front camera tests, which judge focus, exposure and detail from the live preview, and the flashlight test. No photo or video is captured, saved, or transmitted. | No |
| VIBRATE | The vibration hardware test | No |
| READ_PHONE_STATE | Showing your mobile network generation (2G/3G/4G/5G), carrier name, and SIM status. Phone numbers and device identifiers are not read. | No |
| SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW FOREGROUND_SERVICE FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE POST_NOTIFICATIONS |
The optional floating monitor overlay, the notification Android requires while it is running, and the optional device tip notifications | No |
| USE_BIOMETRIC USE_FINGERPRINT |
Running the fingerprint hardware test through Android's system biometric prompt. The app never receives or stores fingerprint data. | No |
| KILL_BACKGROUND_PROCESSES | The optional memory cleanup, which asks Android to let other apps release cached memory. Nothing about those apps is collected. | No |
| RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED WAKE_LOCK |
Restoring placed home screen widgets after the phone restarts, and letting Android run the scheduled widget and device-tip updates reliably | No |
| BILLING | Optional support purchases, handled by Google Play | Yes — Google Play only |
| AD_ID | Makes the advertising ID available to the advertising SDK, as described under Advertising below | Yes — see below |
The app does not upload device reports to any server we operate. The tools below contact their addresses only when you use them. Two things happen without you opening a tool: when the app starts or comes back to the front it checks your optional support purchases with Google Play, and, unless you have donated, it starts the advertising service described below.
The app displays advertisements through Unity LevelPlay, Unity Technologies’ advertising service, which asks two ad networks to supply them: Unity Ads and Meta Audience Network. To choose and serve an ad, LevelPlay and those networks collect your device’s advertising ID (or, where that is unavailable, an app-set ID), device and network information including your IP address, from which an approximate location can be inferred, and information about how ads are shown and interacted with, such as whether one was displayed or tapped. This is those companies’ collection, governed by their own policies, not ours — we receive no personal information from it.
Banners only, in two kinds of place: within the list of hardware tests, and at the foot of an information or tool result screen. You never see more than one at a time, each is labelled Advertisement, space for one appears only when there is an advertisement to show, and how often a new one may be requested is capped. There is no advertisement when the app opens, none when it closes, none during a hardware test, and none over a screen you are reading.
Opening Terminal or Export report offers you a short video to watch. Watching is how those two features are paid for if you have not donated:
Any donation removes all advertising for good. When that is active the advertising SDK is not started at all, so no advertising ID is collected for it — see Donations below.
The app offers optional one-time donations. Every tier unlocks the same thing: advertising is removed permanently, and Terminal and Export report open without a video. Everything else — every information screen, tool and hardware test — is free to everyone, and donating is never required to use them.
This app is a technical utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
There is no account to close and no data held on any server we operate. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored. That storage is limited to the following, all of it on your device only:
To clear the advertising ID held against your device, use the Android setting linked above. Data already collected by Unity or Meta is subject to the privacy policies linked in the Advertising section, which describe how to contact them about it.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it, and the updated version will be published at this same address.
Questions about this policy or about how the app handles data can be sent to support@SJSYNEXUS.com.
